Introductory text
Higher in the range than the BX, in 1993 the Citroën Xantia adopted the fashionable Bertone styling. Inspired by his designs for the XM, he gave it more fluid compact lines, for an innovative hatchback.
Immediately welcomed for its comfort and quality of finish, it was also distinguished for roadholding, thanks to the hydropneumatic suspension of the BX, and the new hydractive technology of the large XM (according to versions).
These aesthetic and technical qualities provide it with a long career, and several variations, until 2001when it was replaced by the first C5. The Activa was notable for its active anti-roll system. The Diesel HDi versions are the first of the name for Citroën. The elegant station-wagon was built by Heuliez.
